9x12 Camera to Graflok 4x5 Adapter for Lomography Instax Back
There
are quite some nice old 9x12 cameras available at low prices. They use 9x12 film format, which is still
made. Most of them fold nicely, so one would wish an Instax Back for
them. As there is a 4x5 Instax back made by Lomography, someone created
an adapter which could easily be 3D printed and he put the file on
Thingiverse. You can download the file here and then transfer it to a 3D printing company if you don't have a printer yourself.
My Lomograflok back does not fit to the adapter as is, the adapter is
too short by about 1.5mm, but you can easily widen the "groove" on its
Graflok bed with a sharp knife so that the "rib" of the back falls into
the groove. I'm not into 3D printing, so I can not modify a file.
For the moment this page is a stub, I have not taken Instax photos yet, but I will do so soon.
Some photos:
The adapter on a 9x12 camera. It slides into the standard rails of most standard 9x12 models.
The adapter does not fit to the old 9x12 Linhof cameras which is a
pity. I would have loved to be able to use different lenses and the
rotating back. I will try to look for a special solution, if you have
any ideas, please let me know.
Spacer mounted. You would have to fix a ground glass to it for
focussing. The back has an offset of 20mm to be able to mount a dark
slide.
Back mounted-
Camera and back. Instead of focussing with the spacer you can also
focus on the original ground glass and then slide the front standard
back for 20mm.
As said, more coming soon.
